Triste nouvelle

Justin T. vient d'envoyer un mail à Randy Cairn, modérateur de Calclassic, pour l'avertir de la cessation d'activité de FsGenesis.
Ceci pour des raisons familiales et financières.
A priori le service après-vente est maintenu mais la production de nouveaux produits est arrêtée.

Un grand dommage, client fidèle, j'ai apprécié la qualité de ses production et sa réputation était méritée.

Et Justin est une personne au contact cordial et dévoué.

Sauvegardez vos mesh si vous êtes client.

Vraiment dommage en effet. Les cessations d'activité sont toujours très triste ; espérons qu'il rebondira. On a qu'une vie, parait-il, alors profitons chaque jour. Mince on dirait que je suis dans les ordres

Tout à fait d'accord et Justin était toujours disponible pour répondre à ses clients.
Une partie de son forum était d'ailleurs consacré aux "trous" ou imperfections repérés par ses clients dans ses meshs.
Une véritable honnêteté intellectuelle !

I just received an email from Justin T. (FSGenesis.com). Due to family and financial concerns, FSGenesis.com will close, possibly very abruptly, on Tuesday morning. Justin is asking for donations, and promises to honor all promises of product support, etc, but production of new products is on hold in definitely.

Please help if you can. I highly recommend the purchase of his terrain mesh and landclass files. I personally recommend his products and have found that of the payware terrains out there, his are among the LEAST likely to create issues with add-on scenery.

Sur son forum on sentait depuis quelques temps un certain désappointement.
Et sa production a été largement pillée notamment du fait qu'il n'y avait pas de code ou autres clefs sur ses produits.

Over the past 18 months we've all been affected by the global economic meltdown, some more acutely than others. As many of you know from previous mailings last year, or personal communications, the downturn for me was exacerbated by an expensive custody action last year, the financial effects of which I am still feeling. Frankly, the whole episode has been a financial disaster. Net income plummetted some 40% last year, while at the same time the legal expenses consumed nearly 25% of that already significantly-reduced net income. Talk about getting T-boned from both sides at once. :-)
While sales have shown a slow, steady improvement the first five months of 2009, still net income for this year is down an additional 11% as compared to the same period last year, and during the past month in particular cash flow has become an oxymoron, bringing everything to a critical head.
All along, we have been operating on the smallest of margins, but the relatively steady trickle of orders spurred by significant discounts has allowed us remain barely viable. But these past two weeks especially have been woefully inadequate as even the trickle has now dried up. In particular, we are now facing an electric shutoff this coming Tuesday morning. If that becomes a reality, everything will stop abruptly.
As you may have noticed new production has slowed to a crawl over the past several weeks as we have been forced to now spend that time pursuing additional, alternate income sources in order to provide support for the family. Until sales return to previous levels, full-time production is not likely to take place. We remain hopeful for the future. But that hope alone cannot pay the bills and the situation has now arrived at an almost desperate juncture.
FSGenesis has over the past ten years been a labor of love. The fact that it at one time also provided a comfortable living was just icing on the cake. Unfortunately, economic and financial realities now dictate that full-time production must take a back seat to supporting the family. Obviously, we would rather continue to produce quality addons that the community loves, but sales have recently not been and are not now sufficient to allow that production time on a daily basis. Should sales soon return to nearly previous levels, we are prepared to ramp up new production quickly. Meanwhile, the FSG Store will remain open and whatever orders come in, and whatever service/support inquiries that are submitted will continue to be handled in a timely manner.
If you already have everything FSGenesis has produced, and you feel inclined to make a donation towards returning to full-time production, please feel free to do so. A link has been provided above on the right. Even small amounts from a large number of people can make an enormous difference and allow us to return to and sustain full-time production and will be greatly appreciated.

Je voudrais juste saluer l'équipe de FsGenesis, pour la qualité des produits fournit et surtout cette générosité dans le service rendu avec l'envoi des CD .

J'ai très bien ressenti cette passion au service de la communauté des simmeurs ; une passion sans vraiment d'intérêt financier ...! CHAPEAU et MERCI , en espérant ...que cela s'arrange .

Moi qui attendait la V2 et ses corrections de flatten pour l'acheter...grosse perte car leurs produits étaient de qualité. ce n'est pas une bonne année pour le monde de FS décidemment.

J'ai été très peiné par cette mauvaise nouvelle car FSGenesis faisait autorité sur le marché de la simulation. Son mesh qui couvrait la planète est un must. J'espère qu'on les reverra un de ces jours si leurs difficultés se résolvent. Cordialement.

UPDATE: A Personal Message to All FSGenesis Customers and Friends . . .

Thanks to a spike in sales as well as the generous donations from more than 50 friends and customers, the immediate crisis this past week was averted. I appreciate the kindness and generosity, as well as numerous well-wishes that were received. It is humbling and gratifying that so many have expressed their concern about whether FSGenesis (and my family) survives this severe economic downturn.
Unfortunately, a week later, we are right back to the same trickling sales that forced last week's appeal. Obviously, the donations saved the day last week, but they are not a long-term solution. A return to previous sales levels, or something close, is the only thing that can solve this problem in the long term.
In considering a budget, I find that a mere 5 or 6 sales a day of either the FS2004 or FSX Media Bundles would pretty much solve the problem, allow me to pay the overhead, costs of good sold, and leave enough to draw from the business to remain current on my personal financial obligations.
When I look at the overall historical sales figures I see that, although there are thousands of you out there who have most everything we offer, and the vast majority of you are very satisfied with the quality of the product as well as the customer service, and the forum chatter about FSGenesis is overwhelmingly positive, that we have still only tapped into a small percentage of all possible serious simmers, possibly as little as less than ten percent.

This begs the question, why have sales been so pathetic? And what can be done to tap into that other 90% of serious simmers who would be making a good investment in a top-quality worldwide terrain mesh package?
While paying for advertising would probably create some new sales, at this point in time it's a catch-22--no available funds to allocate to advertising at present sales volume. But the best advertising is word-of-mouth anyway, and that's where you come in. If you have enjoyed the FSGenesis Experience and it has increased your immersion in the simulated MSFS world, please send your friends to http://www.fsgenesis.com. Get the word out, sing its praises, spread the word, encourage other simmers who have not yet upgraded their terrain to do so.
We are the only terrain vendor out there who offers so many distribution options, from immediate download to full media packages shipped FREE worldwide.
