Salut,

Excellente machine !!
Cessna 177RG
Thank you for downloading my FSX model of the Cessna 177RG. It's been a special project for me, as it's based on the real airplane in which I earned my complex endorsement. N177MJ and I have been through a lot together. I've flown her all over the country... including the 2006 trip to Airventure in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The infamous trip where the landing gear failed to deploy during our first fuel-stop in Warsaw, Indiana. All went well after the emergency pump secured all three wheels, "down and green"... except for spending three-plus hours getting her repaired (photos included).
My number one priority in making this model, was to deliver very realistic flight dynamics. During extensive testing, I've found that there is a large difference in perceived handling between 2D and virtual cockpits... So this plane was designed to be flow from the VC. The 2D panel is functional (and photo based), but it's difficult to fly from there, smoothly and realistically.
I also highly recommend that it be flown with yoke and pedals. It's not a docile trainer; you must fly her with rudder input, or you'll be slipping and sliding all over the sky. Twisting joysticks "work", but not very well. Landing N177MJ realistically, in a good crosswind, with no pedals is not an easy task.
If you've ever flown a Cardinal, you'll find the performance, feel, fuel-consumption and instrument feedback to be dead-on accurate. Let the airspeed fall below 75knots on final and she'll start coming down, fast. Keep it much above 85knots and she'll float like a boat down the runway.
From the virtual cockpit, takeoff trim for two, 200lb, front-seat occupants and full fuel is oriented from the pilot's view. Just line up the markings. Adjust accordingly for different loadings. Normal takeoffs call for 10 degrees of flaps... at 70kias, just take a little weight of the nose-wheel and she'll lift off nice and smooth.
The fuel tank selector (my first modeled gauge) is on the floor. The trim wheel and cowl-flap lever are on the lower center console... and the master avionics switch is way over in front of the right seat (just like the real plane).
Installation: Extract directly into your FSX Airplanes folder.. That's it !
Enjoy ! .. And please email me with any questions or comments.
